The SSR was built on a modified version of the GMT360 platform shared with the contemporary TrailBlazer SUV, and its styling was inspired by the Chevrolet Advance Design family of trucks. The SSR was equipped from the factory with a ZQ8 sport suspension featuring an independent front and five-link solid-axle rear setup with front and rear stabilizer bars. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes.
The twin heated power-adjustable high-back bucket seats are upholstered in Ebony leather and are joined by body-color wraparound trim and satin chrome accents on the dash, center console, and door panels. Amenities include a color-keyed waterfall console, a Bose sound system, a six-disc CD stereo, air conditioning, and cruise control.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames SSR-branded instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates 739 miles.
The 5.3-liter Vortec 5300 V8 was factory-rated at 300 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
