The Interceptor was styled by Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, and this example left the factory finished in Buttercup Yellow. This Jensen is one of about 30 that made the June 2016 Jensen Interceptor & Jensen FF 50th Anniversary run from England to Italy and back, the return leg of which approximated a nearly 24-hour trip made by the Interceptor prototype in June 1966 from the Vignale factory in Turin, Italy, to Jensen’s facility in West Bromwich, England.
Five-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in 195/65-15″ General Altimax HP tires, and a full-size spare is mounted under the car at the rear. Suspension consists of independent control arms and coil springs with hydraulic dampers up front as well as leaf springs and a live axle out back. The steering is power assisted, as are the four-wheel disc brakes for which replacement pads were installed in 2019.
A refresh of the interior that was performed in 2018 at Gagnon’s Upholstery of Lyman, Maine, involved retrimming both front bucket seats in black leather that extends to the dashboard, rear seating surfaces, door panels, and center console, the last item of which is accented with wood veneer. Black carpeting covers the floorboards, and amenities include electric window lifts as well as a Lear Jet AM/FM/eight-track stereo with JL Audio speakers. Service in preparation for the sale included the installation of a Sanden-compressor air-conditioning kit sourced from Fen Air International Ltd. of King’s Lynn, England.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,100-rpm redline, and a centrally situated suite of auxiliary gauges that registers coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles.
The 440ci Chrysler V8 was factory rated at 330 horsepower and came equipped with a four-barrel carburetor, a dual-snorkel air-cleaner cover, and Jensen-branded aluminum valve covers. A replacement stainless-steel exhaust system from the mufflers back was installed in 2019, and the carburetor, fuel pump, fuel filter, valve-cover gaskets, alternator, and coolant-temperature sensor were replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of an A727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission for which the rear seal was replaced in 2019, and the pan and filter were replaced in preparation for the sale.
